Find your Balance
Tired of feeling like whatever you do, you can’t do it right?
It doesn’t have to be that way.
Scroll down to explore how I can help.

Our Framework
N.Chan Counselling works from the framework that our worth is not tied to how much we produce, and that the systems in place work to maintain those in power.
Many clients struggle with feeling stuck and not knowing how to break out of that pattern. During our initial sessions, we will explore where this feeling comes from and work together to come up with a plan on how to make a change. Sessions may involve learning new things, practicing strategies, and reflecting on the past.
N.Chan Counselling provides services on the unceded, ancestral and stolen lands of the Coast Salish peoples, including the Stó꞉lō, Tsawwassen, Kwantlen, Semiahmoo, Stz’uminus, and Musqueam nations. Also known as Richmond, British Columbia. Acknowledging that this land comes with a horrific history and that its rightful owners continue to face ongoing injustices.
Why is this important?
If you are unsure whose lands you are on, you can find out here: https://native-land.ca/.

About Me
My name is Nicole, and I use she/her/hers pronouns.
I know it can be overwhelming to read a lot of words when looking for a counsellor, so here is a rundown about me in point form:
- I am an immigrant in Canada, and identify as Chinese-Malaysian
- I believe strongly in being authentic to oneself and want to help others live their true selves
- I hope to break down the stigma of mental health by making counselling more accessible and inclusive
- I value: family, community, nature, balance and authenticity
- I enjoy being active and going in nature when the weather permits
- I love dogs
“Self-acceptance does not mean self-admiration or even self-liking at every moment of our lives, but tolerance for all our emotions, including those that make us feel uncomfortable.”
-Gabor Maté (Canadian Physician)

My Experience
- I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors.
- I have over 7 years of experience supporting individuals and families, including over 4 years providing counselling services.
- I have experience working with Neurodivergent youth and adults, and can help you navigate a late diagnosis.
- I have specialized training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotion Focused Family Therapy, Brainspotting, Narrative Therapy, and the Gottman Method for couples.
- Part of finding our authentic self is to understand how and what we feel in our bodies.
- Gaining awareness of this and how to regulate ourselves (being internally connected) is what I view as a superpower in maintaining balance in an unstable world.
- I often use somatic (related to the body) techniques paired with reframing unhelpful thoughts to strengthen the awareness and bond between body and mind.
- As I am only offering online counselling at this time, I will only be able to see clients 15 years of age and older.
